Kylian Mbappe could choose anywhere, says Arsene Wenger

Arsene Wenger believes teen sensation Kylian Mbappe has his pick of any club in Europe.

The Gunners boss wants the in-demand 18-year-old, who has been valued at a staggering £120m, at the Emirates.

But, speaking after he arrived in Sydney for the first leg of Arsenal’s pre-season tour, Wenger admitted it would be tough to fend off the cream of the continent to secure Mbappe’s services.

‘He’s a player who, when he gets up in the morning, he can choose where he wants to go,’ the Frenchman said of his compatriot.

‘There’s not many with that kind of luck at 18 years of age.’

A series of elite clubs have been linked with striker Mbappe, who scored 24 goals in a breakthrough campaign last year for Monaco, who reached the Champions League semi-final.

Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and both Manchester clubs are among those who been linked with what could be a world record move.

And Wenger acknowledged there was plenty of interest. ‘All of Europe has the red carpet rolled out for him,’ he said.

‘I believe nobody can say he is not interested in a player of that calibre because he’s got such a rare and immense quality at 18 years of age. All the clubs are interested in him.’

Wenger was on good form at the press conference, which was held in the shadows of Sydney Harbour Bridge at the Museum of Contemporary Art, despite stepping off a 21-hour flight only three hours earlier.

Before speaking to the press, the Frenchman was presented with a surfboard.

‘I’m not very good at using it, but I am happy to take it back home,’ he said.
