Japanese Grand Prix final practice - radio & text

Second practice was prematurely brought to an end on Friday because of Pierre Gasly. The Frenchman crashed his Alpine at Degner Two after a lock-up and his car had seen better days as Gasly walked away from the wreckage.

On track, Max Verstappen ended the session top once again and was 0.320 seconds quicker than Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.

Lando Norris was in the good spots in third place and Carlos Sainz finished his running in fourth.

While George Russell was in the top five, Mercedes looked to be struggling with the demands of Suzuka, with Lewis Hamilton nowhere near the frontrunners and half a second off his team-mate in 14th place.
