A cyclist in east London knocked the hats off a number of Jewish people and then assaulted a child the Met Police has said.

Officers are appealing for information into the incident at about 14:00 GMT on 21 December on Cazenove Road, Hackney.

Officers have spoken to an informant and have identified one victim.

Det Ch Supt James Conway, who leads policing in Hackney and Tower Hamlets, said his team is trying to locate the suspect and other victims.

"Since the beginning of the conflict in Israel and Gaza, we have increased reassurance patrols across Stamford Hill and the wider area," he said.

"We have been clear that hate has no place in London, and any allegation of antisemitism reported to police will be investigated robustly."
