London was hit with a wave of crime on Tuesday, January 9, leaving the city reeling in the wake of several horrific attacks. Three people were killed and more injured during the day in locations spanning the city, from Twickenham in South West London through to Edmonton in the North East of the city.
London's emergency services have rushed to each incident, including the British Transport Police and London's Air Ambulance as well as the Metropolitan Police and the London Ambulance Service. The tragic incidents have led to three people losing their lives, including two people stabbed to death and a woman killed in a car crash.
More people were seriously injured in further incidents, from a motorbike crash on the A13 to a man being shot, while three men were arrested after being found carrying machete knives.

Double stabbing at railway station
A double stabbing at a railway station in South West London led to one man losing his life. A murder investigation was launched after police were called to Strawberry Hill railway station just before midnight on January 7, where they found a man in his 20s with a serious stab wound.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man died at the scene shortly after. Officers later found a 16-year-old boy nearby in Alexander Close with a laceration on his leg.
He, along with three other men, have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody. Strawberry Hill station was closed for most of the day while the police investigated.

Man stabbed to death on famous Southwark road
A man was stabbed and killed on Old Kent Road early on Tuesday morning, shortly after 7am. Police, the London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance were all dispatched to the scene, where they found a man who had been stabbed.
The man died less than half an hour later at the scene, at 7.22am. Two people were arrested in relation to the incident - a man and a woman - both of whom remain in custody.
Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command were notified, and enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident will continue.
The Met Police said: "Anyone who witnessed this incident or has information but has not yet spoken to police should call 101 or Tweet on ‘X’ @MetCC quoting 891/9DEC."

Man shot and 3 arrested with machetes in same London neighbourhood
A man was rushed to hospital on Tuesday afternoon after being shot in broad daylight in the South London neighbourhood of Mitcham. The man was found on Miles Road by police and paramedics and taken to hospital, where doctors found that his wound wasn't life-threatening.
But not long after the shooting, nearby in Mitcham, three men were arrested were machetes. It's not known if the two incidents are linked or not.
The Met Police told MyLondon: "An investigation is under way and enquiries are ongoing. Any witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 3884/09Jan."
They then added: "Shortly after the shooting a number of males in possession of machetes were seen in the vicinity. Officers detained three individuals a short time later and inquiries are ongoing. It is not known at this time whether the two incidents are linked."
Motorcyclist in life-threatening condition after A13 crash
A motorcyclist remains in a critical condition after a serious crash on the A13 in East London on Tuesday morning. The crash occurred at the Beckton Flyover at around 3am, closing the road for hours while emergency services rushed to the scene.
The police have said the man appeared to come off his motorbike, but they do not believe any other vehicles were involved. The road was closed for eight hours while officers carried out investigation work.

Pedestrian killed in 'hit and run'
A woman was killed in a hit and run on a busy North East London road on Tuesday evening, leaving the road blocked in both directions for nearly 12 hours. The A10 in Edmonton was closed in both directions following the crash, which happened at 7.15pm.
The A10 was closed in both directions between the B154 Church Street and Bury Street in Edmonton while accident investigation work took place. A detour was in operation for two local buses - the 217 and the 231.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed a car and a pedestrian collided on the road, leaving the pedestrian with serious injuries. the London Air Ambulance was dispatched to the scene, but the woman died at the scene.
The driver of the car didn't stop for police. The road remained closed for around 12 hours while officers investigated.
