Man, 21, stabbed to death at Strawberry Hill station named for first time as three more arrested

The victim of a fatal stabbing at south London train station earlier this week has been named. Anojan Gnaneswaran, 21, from Twickenham, was stabbed to death at Strawberry Hill station. Police rushed to Strawberry Hill station shortly before midnight on Monday (January 8).

Anojan was found with a serious stab wound and died at the scene. Now, two men - aged 19 and 21 - have been arrested following the death. It comes after three others - a 19-year-old man, a 20-year-old man, and a 15-year-old boy have been released under investigation.

A 16-year-old boy has been released on bail. Anojan's family have asked for privacy during this time.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Paul Attwell said: "We have now arrested three people in connection with the death of Mr Gnaneswaran.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the public who have come forward with information to support this investigation. We continue to appeal for anyone with that hasn’t been in touch already to reach out as soon as possible, via this link , or by texting 61016 or calling 0800 405040 quoting reference 630 of 08/01/24.

He continued: “In particular, I am urging for those who live in the vicinity of the train station who might have seen or heard something, or captured something on their CCTV, dash-cam, doorbell footage between 11pm on 8 January and 12.15am on 9 January to get in touch. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
