Feet on seats to smelly food - what MyLondon readers find most annoying about London buses

MyLondon readers - the best people on earth - have had their say on what makes their blood boil the most on London buses. They’ve shared their views in the comments section of a recent story we ran - the five things which annoy a London bus driver the most.

The gripes range from not having your pass ready when you get on, to pressing the stop sign repeatedly when nobody gets off. And it makes sense that people get irritated by what happens on buses - after all, Transport for London oversees an army of around 8,500 buses running across 675 routes, serving millions of commuters daily.

But now Londoners have let rip on what they see as astronomically annoying behaviour on our bus network. See what they’ve got to say below.

Bus drivers have already had their say as to what annoys them the most, now Londoners have too

Passengers having their phones on loudspeaker when having conversations or listening to videos/music

According to Londoners, there’s nothing more annoying than those who blare tunes without putting their headphones in.

People having their feet on the seats

This is because it’s ‘unhygienic and disrespectful'.

An irked commenter continued: "When at home, would you put your feet on your chairs or sofa with your SHOES on?" We have to agree, putting shoes on the seats is gross.

Eating smelly food

This one is self-explanatory. There’s nothing worse than watching someone unwrap something you know will smell, and then get blasted with food fumes. This one goes for the Tube too - imagine the bus situation, but you're in a metal container beneath the earth.

People who smell

Similar to number three, people who pong just massively lower the tone of any bus journey, according to the comments. Bit harsh, but it's not ideal, let's be honest.

Smoking weed on the bus

This isn’t one we’re particularly familiar with, but if this has happened around you then it’s going to be annoying. Nobody wants to have an awkward conversation with whoever they’re meeting about why they’re clothes reek of drugs.

Not ensuring there is enough ventilation

It’s a gripe that kicks mainly during winter time as that’s when ventilation is most necessary as people tend to be ill then. Londoners seem to hate it when windows aren’t open in winter, as people spluttering tend to spread the lurgy.
