A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an 18-year-old was stabbed to death in west London, the Metropolitan Police has said.

Officers were called to a residential address in Lena Gardens, Hammersmith, at approximately 18:00 GMT on Sunday.

Police and the London Ambulance Service found two men with stab wounds at the scene. One of the men, 18, died at the scene.

The second injured man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital where he was later arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in hospital in a stable condition will be taken into custody once he is discharged, the force said.

It is believed the suspect and victim were known to each other, and police are treating it as an isolated incident.

Supt Pali Grewal said: "Our thoughts remain with the victim's loved ones as they come to terms with the tragic events of Sunday evening.

"We understand this will be distressing news for those living locally. A crime scene remains in place at Lena Gardens and residents can expect to see increased police patrols in the area."

The force said enquiries were ongoing and a post-mortem examination was scheduled for Tuesday.
