The highest and lowest-paid London boroughs of 2023 were revealed in statistics released by the Office for National Statistics. Wandsworth is the London borough with the highest earners in 2023, the figures reveal.
The median hourly pay in Wandsworth was £23.26 in 2023, followed by Kensington and Chelsea (£23.19) and Bromley (£21.62). This is the second year in a row Wandsworth tops the list.

Merton made the biggest leap in the rankings, jumping 14 places to rank 9th in 2023 from 23rd in 2022. The borough with the lowest hourly earnings in 2023 was Barking and Dagenham (£15.32), ranking below Newham (£16.45) and Hounslow (£16.56).

The biggest decrease in hourly earnings was seen in Harrow, which dropped ten places from 16th to 26th. The median hourly pay across London as a whole was £18.9 - nearly 20 per cent higher than the national median hourly pay of £15.9.
Although hourly pay in London increased by 4.9 per cent from 2022, rising prices amid the cost of living crisis have hampered peoples’ ability to purchase goods and services with the extra money they earn.
