A building on a major road near The Old Bailey has a fire, with four fire engines and 25 firefighters rushing to tackle it this morning (Wednesday, January 7). It happened in an electrical substation on Warwick Lane.
The Old Bailey is being evacuated following reports of fire and explosions being heard.
Videos circulating X - formerly Twitter - show London Fire Brigade (LFB) workers trying to quell the flames. Sirens and alarms can be heard ringing out as plumes of dark smoke fill the air.
Part of the court facing Warwick Square also looks burnt out.
An LFB spokesperson said: "Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters are responding to an incident involving an electrical substation on Warwick Lane, near the rear of the Old Bailey.
"Traffic in the area is likely to be impacted as we respond. The Brigade received the first of six calls reporting the incident at 10.44am.
"Firefighters from Dowgate, Soho and Dockhead Fire Station are at the scene. The cause of the fire is not yet known."
