Met PC sacked for sexual assault, force says
A Metropolitan Police officer has been sacked after a misconduct hearing was told he sexually assaulted a woman off duty while working in a beauty clinic.
PC Mark Thomas assaulted the victim on 3 August 2022 during a treatment, the force said. Cambridgeshire Police closed a criminal investigation into the officer's actions "due to the evidential threshold not being met".
Scotland Yard said he had "breached the standards of professional behaviour in relation to authority, respect and courtesy, and discreditable conduct".
Det Ch Supt Simon Stancombe said: "PC Thomas' actions were particularly disturbing given his attempts to use the beauty treatment as a cover to commit the offence."
Speaking after the misconduct hearing concluded, he added: "This must have been an awful experience for the victim, and I commend them for coming forward.
"We continue to go above and beyond to rid the organisation of those who corrupt our integrity."
PC Thomas had also failed to register the beauty clinic as a business interest.
