Three men have died after a fire burned down a building in White City, west London.

Firefighters rescued the men from the single-storey pavilion building on New Zealand Way after the blaze broke out shortly before 19:00 BST on Saturday.

The London Ambulance Service treated nine people at the scene, where two of the men were pronounced dead. Three people were taken to a major trauma centre, and the third man later died in hospital, London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.

It is not clear who occupied the building, which sits behind Shepherd's Church and White City Community Centre.

"Sadly, three people have died following a fire on New Zealand Way, White City," LFB's assistant commissioner Pat Goulbourne said at the scene.

"The fire involved a single-storey pavilion, with just over half of the structure damaged by the fire."

About 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines were sent to the scene, where the fire destroyed just over half of the building before it was brought under control by 21:25.

Fire crews remained at the site damping down pockets of fire on Sunday afternoon.

Community engagement officers from LFB are also on site to provide support to local people, LFB said.

A joint investigation by LFB and the Metropolitan Police is under way.

The Metropolitan Police said it was "working to inform" the families of the victims.
